It has been a busy week here at The Learning Center! We have been learning all about community helpers that keep us safe. The children were visited on Monday, by the Benton Police Department who brought along their canine friend McGruff. On Tuesday the "Bug Man" came by to share all about how to keep our homes, friends, family and ourselves safe from different animals. We also learned which animals are our friends and which are our foes. Today we had two important community helpers. Ms. Lindsay, a Registered Dental Hygienist, spoke to the children about keeping our mouths safe and healthy from germs and cavities. Ms. Robin, from Toltec Mounds, stopped by to share with the children about the ancient history right here in Arkansas and how her job helps the community. They also had a fun craft of making arrowhead necklaces. Next week, is our "other" category for community helpers. This includes teachers, farmers, post office workers, etc. We will be visited by the ambulance, fire department, and a librarian.
